FIPHK met for the first time on December 13, 2001. Since that eventful day, it has grown in stature as well as membership to rank as Hong Kong’s leading forum for professionals of Indian origin to meet, interact, network, share and enjoy their time in Hong Kong.

Early days:
While there are a number of social forums for Indian expatriates in Hong Kong, such groups cater either to the Indian commercial community or are organized along regional or linguistic lines representing one or more of India’s myriad cultural groups. Over the years, there has been a steady increase in the number of Indian professionals working in other fields, such as banking and finance, IT, media, shipping, insurance, law, accounting, consultancy, medicine, academia and other fields. At the suggestion of then Consul General of India, Mr. Ashok K. Kantha, a Preparatory Group met a number of times to explore the possibility of establishing a forum for professionals. The response to this idea was overwhelming. Within three weeks, around 80 professionals joined the Forum.

The Forum today:
Membership has grown significantly since 2001. Our members are well educated, professionally qualified individuals who represent a diverse and rich cross-section of regional, linguistic, and professional backgrounds. Forum events are very vibrant occasions that allow members to network and socialize in an enabling and friendly environment. The Consul General of India in Hong Kong (link) is the Patron of the Forum.  The Forum is led by a Board of Directors and its activities are managed by a Management Committee.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
